Win Explorer will not respond after copying files!!

When using "Win Explorer" or "My Computer" to copy, delete, etc files on my D
drive (whichever program WE or MC) the action will occur as expected.
However, the program will go up to 100% utilization and slow down my whole
computer.
My only recourse is to use the Manager to stop the process.... This only
occurs on using the D drive. If I am copying/deleting from the c drive the
problem will not occur... I am stumped! Any help would be appreciated.

How large is your D drive and how much free space?

My harddrives are both Segate ST3160023A models (160MB). The "C" drive has
116GB free and the "D" drive has 44GB free. This never used to be a problem
until the day, when I first noted it. I made too many (what I thought were
minor) changes to undo what I must have done to cause this problem.

Please look in the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for
Warning and Error Reports over the last 2 days use and post copies
here.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative
Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the
error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description are
important.

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using
copy and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and
double click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which
appears is a button resembling two pages. Double click the
button and close Event Viewer. Now start your message (email)
and do a paste into the body of the message. This will paste the
info from the Event Viewer Error Report complete with links into
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

How many files are in the root folder of your D drive?

Ah......Thank You!!! I followed your enlightened path. I was not aware of
the Event Viewer. This lead me to do an envasive registry cleaning which
cleared up my problem... Thank You, again!!
