Win 2K Pro Administrator Password problem

I have just taken a position to maintain the computers at
our church. We have Windows 2000 Pro on the computer we
use for AV purposes during services. The problem is
whoever set this computer up did not leave the
Administrator password with anyone. We need to upgrade
and install some things for the AV needs and can't do it
since we can't log in as administrator. I'm thinking the
only solution is to reinstall Win 2K Pro and set a new
password during setup. But I need to be sure this won't
wipe out the hundreds of music files stored on this
computer. Is this my best solution or is there some other
way to create a new Administrator Password? Thanks.

There are many applications out there that enable you to
change the Administrators Password. One of my favourites
is Passware. (http://www.lostpassword.com/). They can be
very expensive, however.

If you reinstall windows you do run the risk of wiping
out all files, this depends on your configuration and how
you go about installing windows.

An alternative depending on your configuration and number
of systems with these music files on, is to install some
additional storage devices and backup your files before
re-installing windows.
