Hello,
Not a technical person here at all, so sorry in advance.
I am running windows 200 p
started it moments ago and it loads halfway then gives me
message indicating

(inaccessable_boot_device
Check for viruses
remove any newly installed HD or HD controllers
Check that your HD is properly configured
Refer to getting started in your manual)

Is there a way I can get to a c prompt to run a check on
the HD
I do not have a copy of the original CD....was from a job
2 years ago.
Any ideas, and thanks in advance

..

I'd check the cables and controllers are correctly seated firstly, then if still no ok. You could perhaps take the disk out and put as a slave on another machine and run check disk adn Anti-Virus that way

Resolving Inaccessible Boot Device errors is very difficult at
the best of times, and probably impossible without a Win2000
CD. It seems it's time for you to get a legal copy of the Win2000
CD, either to fix the problem or to re-install Win2000.

This fellow stated that he got the computer from a company he worked for.
Why do you accuse him of having an illegal installation?

Kevin,

If you have a fast connection, I can send you some files that will probably
boot your computer. Let me know.

If he sold you the PC with Win2000 installed then he
has a legal obligation to give you the Win2000 product
code. If he failed to do this then he took your money
for something that he did not deliver. Perhaps he kept
the code so that he could install Win2000 on some
other machine as well. Why don't you ask him?

Kevin didn't mention a sale, esquire. Perhaps he was given the machine when
a company went bankrupt. Why don't you ask him?

I'm not really interested in who owns this machine
and who doesn't. I merely refer to the fine print on
the Win2000 copyright note: If this is a legal installation
then it came with an installation code. It would be up
to the OP to find out who currently has that code and
the media that go with it.
