My hard drive was partitioned with Partiton Magic and I use Boot Magic
to choose between the various operating systems that I have installed.

If I need to do a Repair Install of Windows XP (had to do it once
because of a new motherboard) I would:

1. Boot the computer and choose the Windows XP partition.
2. Insert the Windows XP CDROM and reboot the computer using Shutdown
- Restart if it booted into XP and either Ctrl+Alt+Delete or the
hardware reset switch if the boot failed.

Boot Magic will have configured the XP Partition as the active boot
partition and the repair install will therefore go to that partition.

Note: I have Boot Magic configured so that the non-booting operating
system partitions are hidden.

Good luck
