will vpn work over a 56k modem connection?

Am using the Greenbow VPN client to establish a vpn connection on a win2k
system. It works fine over a broadband cable connection, however, I'm
having difficulty connecting the same system with a 56k dial up internet
connection. Once the system connects to the web over the phone line, I
launch the Greenbow VPN client, however it doesn't make any attempt to
establish the vpn tunnel. Does vpn even work over phone line internet
connections? Thanks in advance for any tips and advice.

Yes you can VPN over an analog connection. The overhead makes it a painful
experience.
