will viruses follow me?

I have two machines...they were both infected with viruses. I have rebuilt
one machine, it has windows XP sp2, norton anivirus and anti spam.
I want to move my emails to this newly built machine, but I am wondering if
this will transfer viruses. Currently I am getting flooded with spam and I
worry about moving these spam messages to the "clean" computer.
I have outlook 2000.

If yr AV is working, and current, it should pickup any infected mail.
An infected mail will not propogate to yr pc unless you open it, or in
certain rare circumstances view it.
You are probably more likely to be infected by an open port, and not having
a decent firewall.
Or downloading from a P2P network
