will templates made in Word 2002 work in 2007?

And the follow-up question is: will they work as is...or must they be
renamed in Word 2007 vernacular?

Older templates usually work just fine in Word 2007.

Note that if a template contains custom toolbars, these will display on the
Add-Ins ribbon tab in Word 2007.
