Will not keep setting (Use windows to configure my wireless network settings)

Connected with admin rights, clicked on Network
Connections, clicked on Wireless Connection, clicked on
properties. Under Wireless Networks I have turned on the
the little check (Use windows to configure my wireless
network settings). This allows me a connection, which
stays connected as long as my computer is on, but when I
turn it off and turn it back on the little check mark is
gone. It will not save it. If it will save this sitting my
wireless Intel pro LAN 2100 3B will connect ever time. I
have the latest drivers for the NIC card. ver 1.2.2.9. I
have all my XP updates done.
I have worked an entire day on this. If anyone has any
ideas please let me know.

Are you using an Internet sharing gateway/Router? If so, is it set to
broadcast? I don't know if this has anything to do with it or not as this
is pretty new to me as well, but my laptop would not automatically connect
every time- I would have to go to the wireless properties and refresh the
available networks, at which time it would connect.

I enabled broadcasting on the router and it connects automatically every
time I turn the laptop on.

I forgot to add... is Wireless Zero Configuration enabled? It is turned on
by default as a service. Have you disabled it?

I have a similar issue to the original post, if there's a
lurker out there about to offer a solution... In my
wireless setup, there is a checkbox 'allow me to connect
to the selected wireless network, even though it is not
secure', so, I select that, and choose connect, but then
it just says 'one or more wireless networks is
available', instead of actually connecting. opening up
the dialogue again, I note that the setting has not been
saved! What is this crazy no saving of =settings thing
going on? I am logged in as admin, for what it's worth.
Any help appreciated!
