Will not boot up

I have 2000 professional ....computer starts to boot
up,,,then gives me fatal sysytem error and never
completes the process. Computer shutsdown, restarts, and
just cycles like this. Tried SAFE mode...no luck

Try Safe Mode (press F8 during the boot stage), or
an in-place upgrade:

- Boot your machine with your Win2000 CD.
- When prompted, select "Install", not "Repair".
- When prompted again, select "Repair", and
allow the process to go over your existing installation.
- Re-apply the latest Service Pack.
