Will I be able to upgrade to Vista this year?

During the first few years it costs a lot to discontinue a Windows shop,
move to Linux and retrain users, not to mention all the document issues.
We've got a couple shops that are linux only, and they have one Linux
box that runs Cross-Over and Office XP so that they can read Word and
Excel documents in their native mode - as they don't import properly
most times.

There is little difference in cost / support, it's about not having the
latest and greatest toys to play with for users that reduces any costs.

And as Sterling Ball puts it:

"Ball explained how, after years in business, he grew weary of
Microsoft's software licensing policies. "To me it's like going to a
restaurant and the entire menu is prixe fixe and you've got to eat
everything on it," he said."

It's also to get away from the MS nazi method of licensing.

Compared to windows it is.

I've been using Windows since the very first days it came out, never had
a single compromised Windows PC of my own or any of my customers.

Either something is secure "out of the box" or it's not, and Linux is
not secure out of the box, nor is OS/x.

You are avoiding my point that compared to Windows, linux is MUCH more
secure out of the box.

No, it's not.

Umm yes it is. Try connecting XP (pre SP2 I grant you) directly to the
internet with no AV - you will be infected very quickly. Within about 10
minutes. I've connected Ubuntu 5.10 to the internet for 6 MONTHS and not
been infected.

Other than the RPC exploit of a year (or whatever) ago, can you name ANY
other virus or trojan that does not require the user to do anything at all
to become affected ?

Is this why nobody is touching this dynosaur in corporate America?

Have no idea what a "dynosaur" is. But if you're infering that GNU/Linux
isn't being used in the corporate world, you are pathetically misinformed.
Of course, one wouldn't consider the likes of Google to be "corporate" now
would they? Or IBM or Sun?

Clueless as usual. Give me a URL to one or your boxes and we'll see just how
secure it is. OK?

Where is your proof?

He has no proof because obviously he's an idiot. Doesn't have a clue about
what he's talking about. He deserves the title of "Wintard".
