Will files xfer compressed?

Hello,

If files that are compressed natively on an NT server are copied over a
network to a compressed folder on an XP PC, will the files transfer in
compressed format or are they uncompressed during the file transfer? I'm
trying to figure out if storing/receiving the files compressed natively also
saves on transfer time over the network.

Thanks in advance -- Dave
