Widows forgets my display properties settings

J

John

Every other time (sometimes every time) I reboot part of my display properties
are lost or changed. I keep setting it to use Windows Classic Style and I
uncheck all "Effects" and I set the color scheme to Widows Standard and then I
chenge the desktop color to black (with no wall paper).

I save the theme to "My Favorite Theme"

When I reboot . . . it's changed to look like Windows XP Style but when Icheck
.. . . it shows it's set to "My Favorite Theme (modified)"

This is a fresh reinstall on a new hard drive and motherboard that took me two
days to set up with all my programs and user preferences

Does anyone know what's causing this behavior?

Motherboard is GA-M55SLI
Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT

With this new XP install I cant find the dilaog that shows the systems
information on the machine.

Thanks for being here )

Hi John

You could try this: Click on Start > Run and type services.msc <enter>.
Find the Themes service, double-click to get the Properties box and set
Startup type to Manual.

You'll need to set it to Automatic again if you ever want to use the XP
themes.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on :)

Thanks,

That did the trick. I rebooted 5 times and my settings help then I set itback
to Auto and on the first reboot it reset itself back to the Windows Classic
Style.

Actualy I think it resets itself as soon as I exit the screen. . . .I picked the
"My Favorite" theme and exited and when I went right back into the Display
Properties it had changed it'self to "Modified Theme"

Now it's holding (set to manual)

That's good news, John. Glad you've got it working now.
