I am trying to install my new Kodak ESP7 printer. It will not install all
the components because it says that I need the wiafbdrv.dll from my Win XP CD
installation disk. When I put in the Win XP CD is says it is not there.
Microsoft has a download on their site for this drive for a Vista 64 bit
computer, but I have a 32 bit. I guess they do not want to provide it for XP
or I can't find it. When I wrote them an e-mail for help they suggested I go
to the newsgroup, HP, or pay for their tech help. Does anyone know how to get
this drive?

You could try manually expanding the file: wiafbdrv.dll from the disk by
opening a 'Command Prompt' window and typing the following:

expand x:\i386\wiafbdrv.dl_ "c:\New Folder\wiafbdrv.dll"

....where x: stands for your cd/dvd drive's letter. Be sure to create the
'New Folder' directory before executing the command.

Then, when the software asks for the file, point it to the 'New Folder'
directory (or wherever you have chosen to expand the file to. See if it
this works.

Sometimes the cd is slightly damaged over time and you have a better chance
of manually expanding the file that allowing the automated process to do it.

However, I have XP SP2 installation disk, and cannot find the file that you
quoted anywhere on my disk.

Most likely the file is on the Installation CD for the Kodak ESP7
printer. When prompted to insert the XP CD, insert the Printer install
CD instead.

If I look on my WinXP SP3 installer CD, there is a file called

driver.cab 62,720,038 bytes

If I look on my C: drive, I see

C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\i386\driver.cab 62,720,038 bytes

If I extract all the files in there, there are a total of 4405 files.
One of the files inside the driver.cab, is dated
Friday, August 17, 2001, 10:36:34 PM and is this file.

wiafbdrv.dll 87,040 bytes

If you do a search, you can find suggestions for a cure. If you really
don't have the file in question, there is even a download link on this
page, so you can acquire the file.
