Wi98-SATA

Hallo,
I've two equal machines with P4C800-Deluxe and Pentium2.4 or 2.6.
On the P IV 2.4 is running XP, on 2.6 Windows 98SE, both with Raid 1
Serial-ATA.
Who can tell me, why the P2.4 is working faster (especially in
Dos-Window-Programms) than the 2.6 with Wi98?`
Thanks
eric

Well SATA is native to XP/2000.

It isnt to 98 or below

That maybe one reason.

Even tho SATA may work in 98. It maybe slower.
If windows is installed on the 98 PC.

Hi Hi folks,

Anyone running Win98SE on SATA, please say.

If I were to upgrade to new mobo, I'd like to buy new SATA drives. Will I be able to carry on with Win98, or will I be forced into Win XP?

Thanks for helping, UKa.

Yer Erich is , the guy who sent this post.

It will work with SATA but since 98 isnt
native to SATA. It may not be as fast as
you want it to be.

"................................

XP has no sata support unless it has service pack 1.

Unless you get a motherboard with the INTEL ICH5 chipset,a sata drive will
perform no better than an ATA drive,it will have to go throught the PCI buss
just like an ATA drive........................
