Why would the presenter view option be greyed out in slide show s.

I have a laptop with Windows 2000 and multiple monitors available. However
when I try to setup the slide show in Powerpoint 2003 the presenter view
option is greyed out. Does this mean that there is no way for me to use the
presenter view or do I need to change some settings?

Is it possible that I don't have true multiple monitor capabilities? I have
to use clone to project a slide show onto a second screen. When clone is in
effect and I look at the Display Settings tab there is only one monitor
showing and I do not have the option of extending my desktop to a second
monitor. If I don't have true dual monitor capabilities, is there any way to
add it?

You have multiple monitor capability if you are running Windows 2000, but you
also have to have a secondary video port on your graphics card or have a second
graphics card. If you only have the ability to "clone" then you don't have dual
monitors.
