Why won't Win XP recognize my 250GB hard disk?

I just built a new computer and purchased a Seagate Barracuda 250GB hard
disk. When I go to install Win XP, it insists that it is a 127GB hard disk.
I checked the BIOS, and it registers it as 250BG. What gives? What can I do
to correct this?

Just go ahead and install WinXP. Once done get Service Pack 2 from the
WinUpdate site and install it. After that's installed
rt click on MyComputer>select Manage>Disk Management>the rest of your
hard drive will show up. Just partition and format. Or Seagate may have
installation software that will take care of this discrepancy.

it. That will add the support for the large hard drive.

Ron, I'm not sure if it is true, but I've seen posts where
drivers from the manufacturers were required even with SP2.
I've not had experience of it myself, so I can only pass
along the possible caution.

The nlite utility provides the capability of incorporating additional
drivers into the slipstreamed CD. Also post-SP2 windows updates.
