Why won't text paste sometmes in Word 2007?

There are times when the Paste function of Word is de-activated. One minute
it works, the next it won't let me paste via either keyboard or mouse
movements. The only way I seem to be able to resolve it, is to close Word and
re-open the document. Even this is not always successful.
Any suggestions?

What you are seeing does sound peculiar... Can you identify the exact
circumstances under which it happens?

If you start Word in Safe mode (hold Ctrl as you start Word), do you still
get the paste problem?
