Why won't Outlook use the SMTP server assigned to the account?

I am using outlook 2003 and have 4 seperate e-mail accounts set up.

1 = Corporate e-mail
2 = Internal office e-mail
3 = Personal e-mail server (Hotmail)
4 = Personal e-mail server at home

I create a new e-mail and send it having selected #4 as the account to use.
The information above the e-mail then states that the mail will be sent using
account 4.

However the e-mail is then sent using account #1. Also replying to e-mails
received with account #4 are sent using account #1.

I have double and triple checked my SMTP settings and all is well. Also I
have verified that the server for #4 is running and working correctly.

What do I need to do to get Outlook to use the correct SMTP server?

This means that Outlook is not able to use the smtp server for account 4 and
it skips to the next account. Most likely you'll need to configure the
account to authenticate itself to your outgoing (smtp) server. You can do
this by pressing More Options in your account configuration.

A change is planned for SP2 so that Outlook will error out instead of
skipping to the next account.
