Why won't Excel let me write BVE in a cell (Book Value of Equity)

I tried to write BVE in a cell in excel. It instantly changed it to BE.

I tried changing the cell to a text cell, but that still didn't allow me to
write BVE.

What's going on?

Any idea?

Thanks

Michael,

It is the auto correct feature that corrects common typos. If you go into
Tools | Auto Correct Options and type "bve" into the Replace box you'll see
that it is set up to auto correct that presumed typo with "be". You can
delete this correction or simply uncheck the "Replace text as you type"
option box. This will not affect the spell check from picking up "bve" and
offering "be" as the correction.
