Why was a record corrupted to foreign language

In Access 2000 I edited a record and when I returned later to the record it
was corrupted with what appear to be Chinese or similar symbols. I corrected
the record and left it again, but on returning found it was still corrrupted.
All other records are fine. I tried to delete the record but it told me it
couldn't find the key to do so. I have had to change the record number to
get rid of it from my system for the present although even with the new
record number I am unable to edit it or delete it. HELP!

This is an example of what has appeared in the fields of this record :牨ç©ï»¿æ¡ƒæ¥²ä³ä´€

Have you tried running a database repair? Is this a memo or text field
type?

I have run a repair without success. The fields were text, some retained two
letters of english and the rest of the field was corrupted.
