Why Vista?
1. To help MS make money
2. Help sell hardware because after the initial announcement almost all
O/S sales are to hardware vendors
3. Some features are needed.

Anyone who does not understand the above does not understand the
capitalism.

and mouse

Who do you think you are, the god of operating systems?

No. I just get tired of seeing all these posts saying how wonderful
Vista is.

BTW your quoting just a piece of my OP shows where you fit.
Bet you own MS stock.

This advice should be ignored by those ethically opposed to it.

Why Vista?

And why not? Using it at home and even with LOTS of debug information on
every library, I would say that it's a very good system. Count me in when it
comes out.

Quite. Now what do you do with several Gs? Fitting an OS into that
seems quite a challenge. Just bloating everything as far as poss just
wont expand it that much.

Like every OS it has its pros and cons, and is suitable for some people but
not others.

How open-minded you are.

RAM is very cheap these days, 2gb currently going for around AU$275. Might
as well make the most of it - no point having a high-end system if you don't
have a high-end operating system.

Thanks for starting a new thread about Vista. It'd be a shame if folks
had to use some other newsgroup to discuss Vista.

First response I like, BUT you write software so have a big incentive to learn
about it.

Lou

As I understand it, anyone who installs the free trial form of Vista
must either purchase and install the final version or do a complete
reinstall of their previous version of Windows at the end of the trial
period (which I believe ends in June of 2007).

1 and 2, but it's off topic her.

I am more interested in possible consequences for freeware (authors).
