Why prompted to save when no changes made?

Hi

I am using "right click" and "show" to run a PowerPoint presentation in show
mode from windows explorer. The slide show performs as expected until the end
of the show when I am asked "do you want to save the changes made to
.......etc" But, since I've only been running it in "show" I haven't made any
changes.

Presentation structure =

6 slides (Tiltle slide, slide with an animated clipart graphic, slide with
an animated photograph, slide with a graph, silde with a video clip and a
hidden slide with an audio clip pointing to a specific time period on an
audio cd)

Anyone any idea why I'm being asked to save changes to this or a solution to
avoid the question.

Thanks

Hi,

I've got this as well. I suspect it is one of the many addins I have
installed. Some how, they muck with the file when it is shown and then I am
prompted to save. I could un-install them one by one, but that would be a
pain. Maybe have a look under Tools| Addins and see if removing them solves
it. As long as you can put them back properly <g>.

thanks for that suggestion. I've pursued it on a "clean" machine (one on
which I know there are no add-ins installed) without success, so don't spend
any time uninstalling your add-ins looking for a solution. I have in the
meantime established, at least in my case, that it has to do with the slide
on which there is a video clip. If that is removed there is no problem. I'll
continue to look for a solution, meantime if any other readers have an idea
can they let us know please.

Is the video an activex control component? Any change in the state of a
component on the slide can trigger the Save prompt and I am thinking it is
indeed the video component.

.
IT DOES THIS BECAUSE YOU "CLICKED" AND POSIBLY MADE A
CHANGE AND THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO SEU THEM BECAUSE IT
DIDN'T LET YOU SAVE

thanks for your observation.....however I assure you no "clicking" or
"changing" in any form is taking place. I'm 20 feet away from the PC while
the show is running!!

Are you using any addins or macros that might be changing the show? Like
the LiveWeb addin or similar.

Hi Mike M

that's a negative as reported in my reply to Glen earlier in the thread.

You could copy the presentation and delete one slide at a time until you
figure out which slide is causing the presentation to be considered "dirty".
Then you could delete each object on the slide until you figure out which
one causes it.
