Why Not Embed MP3?

M

I just chased my tail down the road to the discovery that PowerPoint will
embed a .wav file, but it doesn't embed .mp3 files.

Is it that it CAN'T or that it WON'T?

Hey! Not fair! It has to be one or the other.

I vote for 'won't.' After all, .wav stands for Windows Audio something or
another. Maybe if "MP3" meant "Microsoft Proprietary" something, it would
work???

Of course it could. It is only software and software can do anything it is
told how to do. You should mention to MS that you think it should do this
thing. I know, I know, they should have asked you first, but their dog ate
your phone number.

In the mean time, you can convert to a WAV, or link to an MP3, or make a ZIP
executable that does embed all the linked files, or write your own
PowerPointesk software. See? lots of options. :)

Bill: Why would their dog eat my phone number? I gave their dog my email
address.

My original audio clip was a .wav, but it was obese at 8.3MB. I put it on
an .mp3 diet and got it to .374MB, with virtually the same fidelity.

See? That bloated .wav file proves Microsoft's culpability!
