Why many IEXPLORE.exe keep running on my XP?

G

Guest

After start up my 2000XP each time, I noticed that multiple IEXPLORE.exe
automatically started on my PC. They make my PC run ot of CPU, then the PC
becomes very, very slow. FInally I can not do anything on the PC. I have to
manually kill these IEXPLORE.exe one by one from task manager.
Any suggestions to fix this problem?

Hi Mike,

Sounds like you need Adware/Malware removal. Have you tried Ad-Aware,
Spybot? Give that a try and report back. You may have to install the
programs and update them (if you can) and boot into Safe Mode to run
them for the most effective removal.

Mike,

Spybot (awesome & totally FREE):

http://www.spybot.info/en/mirrors/index.html

If as the other user said you cannot update via the update facility then
download them diectly from here:

Detection Updates (18th April):

http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates/files/spybotsd_includes.exe

Tools Update (12th Jan):

http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates/files/spybotsd_tools.exe

Advanced Check Library (19th Jan):

http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates/files/spybotsd_advcheck.exe

If you cannot autoupdate the download the three updates above

Now, scan your machine & delete all that are red

Also, download this free tool too & look in the LOGON tab to see if you can
see many IExplore.exe's running. Delete if are there:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/autoruns.mspx

The chances are you have some rogue processes but will need to know which
are running in order to find out if they are suspicious

There is no such "2000XP".
I noticed that multiple IEXPLORE.exe automatically started on my PC.

Usually, "IEXPLORE.exe" does not start automatically.
They make my PC run ot of CPU, then the PC becomes very, very slow.

No big surprise. Your Malware phones home and loads additional software
using "IEXPLORE.exe" in order to fool all those wise guys believing in
snake-oil "firewalls" like ZoneAlarm & Co. BTW, a *very* old trick.
Any suggestions to fix this problem?

Since you failed to provide any Malware status:

Go to one of the following free online scanning sites and scan your
computer for viruses/spyware/trojans:
