Hi Suzanne,

I was thinking the same thing as Randy. I recently installed Microsoft
Office 2007 and updated my resume with Word. I recently sent my resume out
to few places and nobody is able to open it.. What could be the problem? I
didn't have this problem with Microsoft 2003. Please help!

There are many people here more knowledgeable than myself, but I have the
same problem. Here's what I do:

Save the document out as a Word 97-2003 doc.

Big window button, then "Save As" not "save". Select, "Save as Word 97-2003
document."

You could also tell people to install a 2007 MS office update, but you don't
want to be doing that for prospective employers.

Hello,
When saving the new changes to the resume or any file for that matter
Please click the windows icon in the very top left corner of th
page>save as>97-2003 document.
This will save the document in compatibility mode and may be edited an
viewed in all versions.

Okay, this is different. Word 2007 is compatible with Word 2003 in that it
can easily open Word 2003 files. But it does use a new format that cannot be
opened by users of previous versions unless they have the compatibility
pack. Unless you are sure a recipient has Word 2007, you would be best
advised to save your document in Word 97-2003 format (some formatting may be
lost).

But you might also suggest that the recipient get the Microsoft Office
Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466&displaylang=en.
Not only will this enable them to open .docx files, but they will get the
new Office 2007 fonts.
