In fact it's less vulnerable, especially if you use the NTFS file
system and learn and use its security capabilities.

The one big exception to this has been the Blaster worm. That took
advantage of a hole in the RPC system. RPC doesn't exist on Win9x
machines, so they are not vulnerable to Blaster.

I don't think it is. But coming from the NT side it contains some
services that are not in those systems, so if there is a vulnerabilty in
them, the Win9x ones are not hit. And because it is the current version
of windows it is the one that the malware writers are gunning for, more
than any other system

It's not more vulnerable, but you can expect that the latest,
most popular operating system to be the one that is most often
targeted by people who write viruses.

For that reason, when Longhorn comes out, it too is likely to be
targeted.

Ken, if that the case, why does google and other places say windows
98 is tracked more than xp. Google say the get most of the search
request form windows 98 not windows xp. This was reported by cnet.
Alot of other sites have reported 98 more than xp.

Where did you get these "facts"?
How would a web site know what OS was being used?
Make sure of your "facts" before you report them. Not everything printed on
the internet is true.

Before you start admonishing Greg P, you should do a little background
research yourself.

Your http request includes a User-Agent: string. You might be surprised how
trivial it is to for a web server to track what OS and what browser is
making a http request.
