Why is there a constant error message on closing Outlook

Everytime I close Outlook I get a screen that says there was an error and
Outlook must close. Then when I reopen Outlook the next time it says it was
closed incorrectly. At closing it always generates a "report" online. I've
gone to the Microsoft site to check for any updates but it tells me my
updates are current. What do I do?
