Why is my video option grayed out

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to be able to get the option to insert a
video? Mine is grayed out.
Thanks, Sue

Hi Sue,

A couple possibilities:

Are you sure you have opened a web first..and not just an individual page
outside of a web? If you did then many options will not be available.

Another possibility could be your compatibility selections in your web. Try
going to Tools | Page Options | Compatibility (or Authoring) | and then set
all the browser dropdown choices to "custom"

Hi Joe. Thanks for your reply. It worked. Now, can you please tell me how
you can view the video on more than one browser? I notice that it works in
IE but not Mozilla. Can you answer or do I need to post somewhere else?

Thanks again for your help!! ~Sue

Hi Sue,

You're welcome!

Video can be somewhat tricky and problematic for a lot of different reasons.
One thing you can try..is to simply create a link to the video file
directly..rather than imbedding it in a page. Often times doing it that way
the video will then open and play in the default media player that the
viewer has when the link is clicked. You might want to try that.

What video format are you using?

Joe, Well, I will try just the link too. I think I tried that once and it
didn't seem to work. Anything special about the link that I should know?

I am new to FrontPage but pretty computer savy but not WebDesign savy as
much as I'd like. I've had Dreamweaver and still trying to figure that one
out but that's why I got FrontPage to make things easier.

I sent a link to a few friends and one person opned it up and it looked
cartoonish, another didn't seem to open it up. Another saw it and like it.
I wonder if there is a setting in IE that needs to work for some computers.
Do you know?

Is there a particular way to link it?

I'm making a wmp from two different programs. One from Roxio to make a
slideshow and a video I made using Studio9(Pinnacle). They ask you when you
are done what to save it as and I used the Windows Media because I felt that
would make it easier and more widespread.

You can view what I'm talking about at
http://woodlakeschool.com/photoalbum2005-2006.html and then click on the link
that says kids at recess video..it's about 5th down on the list on the left.

or
http://www.woodlakeschool.com/videos/index.htm and see if that works.

Thanks for you help, Joe!! ~Sue

In Studio 9 (Pinnacle) did you choose;

....Stream....on the left and then check..... Windows Media ....????

I just remember picking Windows Media format. I don't remember if I picked
to stream it or not.

I think that's what I did but I did it many months ago and so I don't
really remember how I chose it. I now have Studio 10, so if I need to redo
anything I can.

Got any suggestions for me to follow and I will try it. I appreciate your
help!!~Sue

If yes

I have FrontPage 2003 and it does not say it is compatible with this version.
Do you know if it still will work in 2003?

Also what about being compatible with Windows Players higher than 7, will
this work for those that have upgraded to 9 or 10?

I have Windows Player 10 and it works fine it is compatible.
If you have Windows Player 10 that is what you are going to see when the
movie plays.

I downloaded the Add-in you recommended below, but it won't let me install
it because it says I don't have any Office 2000 products installed. I have
other Office products but they are 2003.

Any other way to get this Add-in?
