Why is my reading pane blank even though I've selected a message?

I just bought a new laptop running Vista Premium with Office 2007. My
reading pane has gone blank 3 times already, and I can only fix it by
restoring to a previous date. Does anyone know what's causing this
 
Anne. Have you had any luck? I have just had the same thing happen. Seems
to be a recurring issue.

If you have an antivirus program configured to scan incoming mail, uninstall
the AV program and reinstall it without any mail scanning. You'll be just
as safe and there won't be any odd interactions between the AV program and
Outlook.
