Do Word files open in Word or WordPad when you double-click them
from My Computer or Windows Explorer?
If Word files open in Word, then you can change the icon by
starting My Computer or Windows Explorer and clicking on Tools |
Folder Options | File Types | Change Icon.
Thanks for your suggestions. I followed "garfield-n-odie's" suggestion and
changed the icon under file types. It was really cool to do that. I changed a
bunch of icons. I never explored that area before.
Ok garfield-n-odie, Maybe I had too much fun changing the icons but after I
did so, I cannot open any of my folders on my desktop. When I do, it opens up
a search results page for every folder on my desktop. The strangest thing,
however, when I right-click my folder I can see that there is my stuff still
in the folder itself. I do know that I did not change anything but the icon
itself. Any suggestions?
I have the ame problem. All of a sudden all my Word documents have Wordpad
icons attached to them and if I dbl. click on one in Exporer or My documents
htye open not in Word but in Wordpad. What can I do?????
BTW, I CAN open them from within Word, but still word saves them not as Word
files but as Wordpad files. This happened all of a sudden for no reason I can
figure out. I am using MS Word 2003.
