why is my document encrypted?

I scanned and uploaded my resume to word and it showed up incrypted. ??? How
can I convert this back to english and why did this happen? Thanks

By "scanned," do you mean you turned it into a graphics file, or do
you mean that you used OCR software to "read" it and turn it
(approximately) into text?

If it's in a graphics format (such as .jpg), Word won't be able to
find any text in it.
