Why is my 'Add to dictionary' option 'greyed out' in Word 2003?

Words that Word thinks are misspelled have the wavy red line under them. I
want to add them to my dictionary but when I left-click on the word, the
drop-down has the 'Add to Dictionary' option grayed out, so I can't use it.
How do I reset it to be active and selectable?

I have the same problem and the answer in this thread does not help. The add
to dictionary is greyed out in word and outlook 2003????
 
If you don't get an answer here, try the
microsoft.public.word.spelling.grammar newsgroup.
