Why is MMC Mpeg4 seeting seen as AVI?

Question for the experts,

When I do a capture using MMC 9.13 as MPEG4 it says it's being recorded as
AVI which of course isn't native to my IPOD video.

Probably because Nero has dibs on the MP4 extension. IIRC, AVI is nothing
more than a generic extension for any type of video compression.
