Why is keyboard entry slow in Outlook 2007?

I think this was touched on in other threads but not really answered. I just
bought a top-end new laptop and also migrated from Office 2003 to 2007. I
notice when I'm typing an email in Outlook that the characters appear on
screen slightly slower than my typing (and I'm not exactly a speed-typist).
Sometimes, letters are skipped altogether. The 'Del' key is also slow at
deleting entered text (though 'Backspace' seems to function as normal). I
don't get this anywhere else, e.g. in Word or using IE - only in Outlook.

Can you repro this in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

If not, then the slowness is likely to be caused by an addin that you have
installed.

A couple of years ago I was on a GTD kick and some of the related add-ons
I tried for Outlook 2003 brought it to its knees. I agree, remove the
add-ons and see what happens. As a rule I personally use any add-ons
because I had too much trouble. As the ad says, YMMV.
