Why is cut and paste not available after running spell check?

I am in Microsoft word version 9.0 optimized.

I’ve just completed running spell check on a document.

The icon popped up on the screen telling me that spell check is complete.

I then attempted to copy the corrected document the typical way with my
mouse; in my case I have a left handed mouse.

When I clicked on the left mouse button, the screen that appears does not
have a “copy†option. It only has these options, where the first two entries
are blanked out.

When I pressed on
Paste
Font
Paragraph
Bullets and numbering
Hyperlink
Synonyms
Select text with similar formatting
Translation

* The operations of Cut and Paste, while listed as the first two entries in
the column are
blanked out and, therefore, are not available.

A. Why is that the case?

B. I suggest that the software be revised to permit the above action.

Thanks

It sounds like you are actually using your mouse to bring up a shortcut menu
(not a "screen"), correct? The command to Copy is dimmed if you do not have
any content _selected_, and you don't mention selecting anything in your
post. You first need to use something such as Ctrl+a to Select All. Once you
have content selected (highlighted) you can "right-click" and your Copy
command will be active as will the Copy button on the toolbar.

BTW- Why not just Save the doc after running the Spell Check? If you need
another copy you can then use Save As rather than copying the whole doc and
pasting it into another blank doc.
