Why is Claria (a.k.a. Gator) being Ignored by MAS???

Because when Microsoft was negotiating an acquisition deal
with Claria they needed to play nice.

Tell me do you want a company that will change how they
handle real adware for a price? Only adware with enough
money will be allow onto system that should be protected!

MS has lost all creditability in their bit to create anti
spyware software. 99% of admin will now not recommend this
software. It was extremely stupid of MS to allow another
branch of their company dictate what is spy ware. Those
people are part of the problem and have should have not
part in forming a solution.

As a result I for one will never trust MS to create a anti
spyware software package. Who know in future updates they
may automatically install Claria software!

In the absence of ANY FACTS beyond the obvious, I think you are jumping to
conclusions. You have no idea what MS will gain from this relationship and
how that will benefit MS users.

I don't use MSAS on any machines I support much less any other antispyware
and yet, I have no spyware problems. Hmmmm.... could it be that there is
more to protecting your machine than trusting one application?

You should "tone down the retoric".

I think considering the implications that the rhetoric is
about as 'toned down' as is appropriate.

NO FACTS????
Fact - Microsoft is in talks to purchase Clara (Gator)
Fact - Microsoft just became more lenient to Claria
(Gator)

After that the theories start rolling, but with some
degree of logical extension. Will Microsoft alter the
definition of spyware/adware based on the business
relationship that Microsoft has with a particular
company?

I (now) no longer use Microsoft Anti-(unless you pay us)-
Spyware digital junk to protect my system either. I will
continue to use a combination of Lavasoft AdAware and
Spybot Search & Destroy. Both are not only free in cost,
but free from this market based definition of malware.
Saying MS has sold out may not be a FACT, but the FACTS
are pointing in that direction.

I think you need to 'tone up' the rhetoric.

But unfortunately that is the nature of newsgroups.
I was just reading of some tests performed with MSAS and a few others
including AdAware and Spybot.
Claria was still detected and stopped installations.
MSAS in the default settings found more of Claria than the others combined.
Everyone can test for themselves then make a better informed decision based
on their own needs.
Or follow the possibly exaggerated media hype with all the others so easily
swayed.
The changes do not seem a big as the media (often looking to sensationalize)
may have us believe.

Biased reporting + those already critical often = logical extensions
heavily slanted one direction.
I for one will wait for more facts.
Regardless the outcome I will continue to use and recommend multiple
products to protect from spyware.
