MS sells out an loses creditability

As of March 31 the number of Claria programs are set to a
default action of "Ignore" in Microsoft Antispyware.

In most cases, it will have a recommended action of
"Ignore". This is for actual adware programs it finds.

I guess when Microsoft was negotiating an acquisition deal
with Claria they needed to play nice.

Not what I want in an Antispyware program. They should be
doing their best job to ensure the removal of spyware. By
selling out they have lost all creditability and I have no
faith in adopting or using their product.

rAY,

You would have to have the spyware installed for it to
appear in the MSAS Scan Results list of detected
software, at which time you should be able to change the
default action.

It should also apppear in MSAS Options,
Settings, "Spyware Scan," "Ignored Spyware Threats" list.
You should be able to select a different default action
there also. (My list is empty.)

But the Claria components have to be installed on your
system for the option to appear at all. Otherwise, you
have no issue to deal with.

BTW, Spyware Blaster prevents such spyware from ever
being installed in the first place.

Is there a way to change this default action in the
program

You can't change the set default for a given threat, but you can change the
disposition away from the default on any given detection.

These threats continue to be detected, and the user continues to be enabled
to choose any of the possible dispositions.
