Why I can't use Paint Program to Import Pics from my scanner

Hi everyone,
Recently I tried to scan some photos with my Cannon Scanner. In the
Windows XP Paint Program I found that The "From camera or scanner" Command
is in grey color and I can't import photos from my scanner. I have installed
the scanner successfully and it's all right to use other programs to import
photos. Why I can't use import photos by using Paint? Thanks.
