Why doesn't XP see my whole 500GB sata drive?

I just built a new computer and put a 500GB sata drive in it. When I
installed XP from my original XP disk that I got with my old computer several
years ago, it only sees 131GB of the drive. The BIOS sees the whole drive, so
it has to be XP. I haven't installed either of the service packs yet, as I
haven't got a wireless adapter for it yet. Have I forgotten something? Any
help will be greatly appreciated!

You forgot to install SP2. Well, actually, this problem was fixed by SP1,
but you really should go for SP2.
For this to succeed, your BIOS must support LBA addressing. If it doesn't,
perhaps there is a fix at the manufacturer's web site.
There is also a registry setting whose name escapes me, but the disk
installation CD should make the change.
