why doesn't spell check work?

Using the 2007 version, the spell checker is lame. Most words are not caught
when misspelled.
 
We have Word 2007 on four computers, and the spell checker is working fine.
Can you give some examples of misspelled words that aren't being caught?

When you press F7 to run a spell check, and it finishes, does it also say
something like "Text marked do not check spelling or grammar was skipped"?
If so, then that might be the problem.
 
Almost anything. I've tried the help line and the solutions it makes don't
help. All the right boxes are checked etc.

I just installed office 07 and i'm having the same problem. I typed this:

"Somtims I mak mistaks"

and it didn't catch any of the misspelled words. HELP
