why doesn't my windows xp have ms word, or any of the
standard programs that the old editions of windows have?
this is really pissing me off because i primarily need my
computer to do WORK.

No version of Windows has or will ever come with Microsoft word or any other
part of Microsoft Office. OEM's will include these programs when you buy a
PC from them. They have NEVER come with Windows.

Do you mean 'WordPad'? If so, it should be under the 'Accessories' menu.
If you mean MS Word, I've never seen it come with Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP.

No edition of Windows has EVER had any Office Programs included in it! Some
OEM's have installed Application Programs such as , Windows or Office as part
of a package. You will have to buy either a copy of MS Office or the specific
Application you need to do your work.

Windows does not come with Microsoft Office when you buy
Windows by itself. You have apparently had a PC in the
past that came bundled with MS Office software much like
mine at home. Windows and Office are 2 totally separate
pieces of software.

ms word, excell etc, are not part of windows and thus are
not installed, they are part of the MS office suite. you
have to buy Ms Office seperatly and install it on your
new pc, or use an 'old' copy that you have which came
whith your old PC, there should be an installation disk
that came with it. find it then insert it in oyur CD
drive and install it.

Word & Work are different software.

XP software dont' come with that.

Unless you buy a new computer, some have this software and
some don't, it's depend on the seller or manufacture.

You can buy Office, cost only $150 include, Excel, Word,
PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage.

Check to see if you have Microsoft Works in all programs.
Works has good word processor.

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), have _ever_ been "part" of *any* Windows operating
system. They are, and always have been, separate applications, that
must be purchased and installed separately.

Neither Windows XP nor any other version of Windows has ever come
with Word nor with any other significant application software. If
your previous computer, running Windows 9X, came with Word or
Microsoft Office, it's not because that version of Windows came
with it, it's because the vendor you bought it from supplied it
as part of the package he sold you.

If you want Word, you need to buy it, either alone, as part of
Microsoft Office, or, most inexpensively, as part of Microsoft
Works Suite.
