Why doesn't deleting RSS feeds also deletes the folders in outlook.pst?

I have made the mistake of importing the opml list from
http://blogs.msdn.com. I didn't expect it to be so many RSS feeds. During
the import Outlook 2007 crashed and now when I start Outlook I have to kill
the process as its memory footprint keeps increasing. What I don't
understand is that I have deleted all the RSS feeds through Control Panel =>
User Accounts => Mail but when I start Outlook I can still see all the
subfolders under the RSS Feeds folder? How can I get easily rid of these
folders? I don't want to manually delete thousands of folders.

Not sure it's that way but if you delete the folder, it deletes the feed in
the account list so I delete my feeds that way

The only thing I can guess is that the engineers didn't want you to lose
data without you knowing it...

That is because those folders are being considered data.

You can create an additional mail profile and use File-> Open-> Outlook Data
File to connect to your original pst-file and delete the RSS folder with its
subfolders. Then start Outlook with your normal profile again.

For more info on mail profiles see;

I have tried creating a new .pst and setting that one as default and
removing the original one from my profile. Then I opened the original pst in
outlook but it does not allow me to delete the RSS Feeds folder and its
subfolders, the Delete option is grayed out in the context menu. I have also
tried creating a new profile hoping that that would make a difference,
unfortunately, I cannot delete the RSS Feeds folder.

I am trying to prevent writing a small app that uses the Outlook Object
Model to delete the RSS Feeds folder and I don't want to install Outlook
2003 to open the .pst and delete the RSS Feeds folder. But I guess I don't
have a choice unless you have another idea? If there was an easy way to
convert the RSS Feeds folder from a special folder to a regular folder...

I finally decided to write a small macro to delete the the subfolders and
that worked.

Thanks
