Why does Word close each time I go to the Tool Bar?

While doing Bible research, Word started closing down on me. At first it was
when going to tool bar, then at random. Instead of copying and pasting my
scripture, I had to type it out and save it, at first with every few words,
then with each letter. Any suggestions as to why would be appreciated, and
even more so would suggestions on how to cure the problem! Thanks
 
I guess I didn't explain well enough. I don't get an error message; Word
simply shuts down when I try to do something. It started happening any time I
clicked on the drawing tool bar, and then whenever I clicked on ANY tool bar.
Now it shuts down even when I try typing out anything. I don't get it. Any
answers?
