thanks. under windows editio9n it does not say sp1. but iin update history
it says 2007 sp1 successful, among the dozens of other updates.
maybe i should just try it again. does it download and save all the same
600MB of data evey time?

i would say Sp1 is not installed completely. May be caused by your firewall
or AV program. Had same problem myself. Down Loaded and installed Stand Alone
version.

See Carey Frisch's reply to "Why don't I have SP1" dated 06/11/2008 copied

Yes, you should install SP1.

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation
from Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates:

Download and Save the Stand Alone version on your computer.

Uninstall any Sp1 on your computer.
Open Controll Panel, select Programs and Features, in upper left corner check
View Installed Updates, scroll down screen to Windows Updates, and look for
Service Pack Update For Microsoft Windows (KB936330). If it is there Click on
it and uninstall it.

You may want to do this in Sfe Mode to be Safe, but should work ok anywhere.

Turn off your AV. Run the instalation program. Takes awhile.
