why does my Word Document pictures show "Embed.picture.word.8" bu.

My colleague is running Office 2000 and on a few Word documents he opens,
where it usually has our company's logo in the corner or pictures it has
'(embed picture.word.8)' but when looking in the preview scene the pictures
are there. it's baffling me as he says he hasn't changed anything but it
started happening a few weeks ago. it's fine on Powerpoint and Excel and
does actually open a few Word document with the logo and pictures. But it's
just a few that has this problem. Can anybody help?
