Why does my .PPS show skip the first slide when it plays?

When I save my .PPT Presentation to .PPS and play it, the first slide is
skipped, and some slides are black, or only show half the image.

Thanks for your reply. I tried reducing the acceleration a notch at a time
as suggested, but the same problems still exist. Any other suggestions.

The first slide is a .jpg photograph with Text inserted. If I view the
presentation as a PP Presentation, the first slide plays and the music
starts, and no black or black slides appear in the presentation...everything
works great. It just won't play correctly if it is saved as a .PPS.

Try going to Slide Show|Set up Show and see what you have selected there for
which slides to play.

Thanks for all your assistance. The problem turned out to be something
really simple. I took a copy of the presentation to a friend this afternoon,
and the first thing he noticed was that on slide # 1, the "hide slide" icon
was faintly visible next to the first slide. Unclicking that block solved
the problem. Since my sound was activated by the first slide, that was also
the reason I didn't have any music when the first slide was skipped. I must
have spent 18 hours trying to solve the problem, and can't believe the
solution was so simple. Thanks again to each one of you who tried to help.

Try changing hardware acceleration (probably lower). See How to set
