Why does MsInfo32 show less RAM then I have installed?

My notebook is a Packard Bell Easynote S4810 with Windows XP Home Edition sp
2.

It has on bord 512 MB of RAM, two modules 256 MB each.

Is there anyone that can tell me why if I run Msinfo32 it shows only
256,50 MB. ?

Note that:
- both Bios than Task Manager show more than 510,000 KB of phisical memory
- removing one of the two RAM modules the computer is much slower.

Thanks to everybody

I think so, but 255MB seem to be too much.
Moreover, if I remove one of the two module msinfo32 still show about 256MB
while the system is slower and task manager show only 256000 KB.

Right-click on My Computer and select Properties.

How much RAM is being reported there?

If that shows more than 256 mb of RAM then there is no problem, except
a cosmetic one with MsInfo32 not getting the right information for
some reason.

Good luck

..
Properties in My Computer show 504 MB of RAM
I think you are right supposing that the problem is only in the program
msinfo32.

Thank you for your answer
