Why does excel grow to 34mb with 2pgs, no pictures and autoformat?

I have a two page spreadsheet with no formulas, pictures, graphics, etc. I
did do an autoformat and chose a template.

Is this normal? I tried saving the spreadsheet in earlier formats to strip
down the document.

Any ideas?

Your used range is probably bloated. Look at Debra Dalgleish's site,
