Why does "Enter Network Password" pop up sometimes?

Why does the "Enter Network Password" box pop up sometimes in Outlook when I
send/receive mail? This mainly occurs when I have not composed mail to go out
& am just checking for new mail.

There may be a timeout in use. After a certain time of no activity, or after
a certain time since the last time you entered the password it may ask for
it, for security reasons.
