Why does archive move personal folder items to deleted items?

I have a large number of personal folders with sub folders in Outlook 2003.
When auto archive runs it moves many, not all, items in these personal sub
folders into a deleted items folder. I have each personal sub folder set to
do not archive. Now I have over 2000 items to move back into the original
fodlers. How can I prevent this? Thanks for any help.

Have you checked the auto-archive properties on the folder to see what's set
to be done?
